Microsemi updates TimeProvider 5000 to support multi-GNSS, IPv6 protocol

June 8, 2017By

Microsemi Corporation has updated the hardware on its TimeProvider 5000 IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) grandmaster clock. The update enables the clock to support Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and multi-GNSS constellations to ensure better reception and higher security in a wide variety of telecommunications network applications. “As our global wireless customers drive mobile infrastructure forward with LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) and... read more

Geoscience Australia, Lockheed collaborate on multi-GNSS SBAS research

February 13, 2017By

Geoscience Australia, an agency of the Commonwealth of Australia, and Lockheed Martin have entered into a collaborative research project to show how augmenting signals from multiple GNSS constellations can enhance positioning, navigation and timing for a range of applications. Other partners are Inmarsat and GMV. The research project aims to demonstrate how a second-generation Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) testbed can... read more

EU project to seek TREASURE in multi-GNSS positioning

February 7, 2017By

A European Union (EU) project exploiting GNSS to establish the blueprint for the world’s most accurate real-time positioning service will be run at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. The service, to be developed at prototype level, will benefit safety-critical industries such as aviation and maritime navigation, as well as high-accuracy dependent applications such as offshore drilling and production operations,... read more
